I've started volunteering with Viva Rescue earlier this year, and it is genuinely the highlight of my week - we all work to keep the sanctuary clean and stimulating for all species taken care of here! Not only are the staff and fellow volunteers amazing, helpful, and patient with training, they are all so passionate about helping maintain a high quality of life of these animals. Two thumbs up!

Viva is an incredibly holistic and nurturing sanctuary, and I am proud to say that I am one of its volunteers. I have learned firsthand how much thought and care goes into each animal’s healthcare, activities, and spiritual needs. All animals should be so lucky.

Viva is an incredible sanctuary to be apart of. I'm so grateful they allow me to volunteer here. I come once a month from AZ and spend as much time as I can with these beautiful animals and wonderful people. It's a sanctuary for people too, it is peaceful and rejuvinating being with the animals. I highly recommend coming to their public events, such as goat yoga, to see for yourself how wonderful it is. You'll want to be apart of this community too!

Viva Rescue is a volunteer run organization. We have our Executive director and Animal care manager onsite year round, and 45+ weekly volunteers who help ensure each and every animal is thriving!
We have morning and evening shifts every day of the week. The morning shift is 7-10am and evening shifts will change depending on season. Volunteers must commit to a minimum of 1x weekly shifts at the sanctuary.
At this time, our program is designed to accommodate volunteers who are 18 years of age and older. While we deeply appreciate the enthusiasm and passion of younger individuals, the nature of our sanctuary operations and the responsibilities involved require a level of maturity and experience typically found in volunteers 18+. However, we encourage young animal lovers to stay connected with us through our public educational events, and social media channels, where they can still learn about farm animal welfare and meet the animals who call Viva home!
At our sanctuary, we welcome volunteers who are 18 years of age or older, reasonably fit, as work on a farm can be strenuous, and share our passion for animal welfare. While prior animal experience is not necessary, we value individuals who have a genuine love for animals and are eager to be part of our dedicated team. We encourage volunteers to have an open mindset, a willingness to learn, and a commitment to personal growth in animal knowledge. To ensure consistency and effective support for our sanctuary, we ask volunteers to commit to at least one shift per week. If you meet these requirements and are ready to make a positive difference in the lives of our animal residents, we invite you to join our volunteer family!
Yes, we offer fantastic opportunities for Pre-vet students! Our volunteer program is designed to provide valuable hands-on experience for both veterinary technicians and Pre-vet students. Within our innovative sanctuary setting, participants have the chance to shadow our team on medical treatments and care, learning about hoof care and general high-quality husbandry practices. These experiences offer practical knowledge and skills that are invaluable for their future careers. Whether it's gaining insights into animal behavior or participating in enrichment activities, our program offers a unique learning environment tailored to the interests and aspirations of aspiring veterinarians. We welcome Pre-vet students to join us in making a difference in the lives of our animal residents while furthering their education and professional development.
